As humans, we’re drawn to interesting stories that make us feel something. Ghost stories told around the campfire, real tales of people who survived the impossible, and all those crazy tales that thrill and entice us. It’s human nature to appreciate a story that makes you feel something.

When I was small, I used to tell my sisters stories and my main goal was to make them cry. I would start talking, gauge their reaction, and take the twists and turns to lead them through all the emotions, ending with something happy. It was my guilty pleasure, but it also set the foundation for who I would be as a writer in the future.

So, why do I write tortured omegas?

There are a few reasons.

I Read This Type of Story

The first, and main reason is… I love to read that sort of story. The kind that twists your stomach as you suffer alongside the heroine. It’s something I read frequently and am always in search of. So, it made sense that I’d write that myself. And as it turns out, plenty of other readers enjoy the exact same thing.

Why wouldn’t you write what you love reading?

My Brain is Messed Up

I’ve been told this, at least. The simple fact that I can come up with such crazy, torturous scenarios for my poor omegas reveals something about me, I guess.

However, you’re the one reading my books, so that probably says something about you, too! All in all, we enjoy the same things, reading and writing stories about omegas who go through hell and emerge triumphant and loved on the other side.

We All Need an Escape

Things going poorly at work? Your family pissing you off? Well, it’s never as bad as being rejected by your entire pack, sent to the Omega Reassignment Center and then dumped in the heat dens! Though I have had some readers reach out because they do identify with my characters. I really hope they’re in the minority, but I also hope they get their HEA.

In today’s world, things suck. If reading about someone going through much worse and coming out the other side, happy, loved, and cherished, can help, then I’m going to keep writing for a long time.

The Stories Need Out

This kind of goes with the brain thing. My mind is constantly pumping out story ideas and some of them burn through everything else because their story needs to be told. Often, the words you read on the page have been bouncing around in my brain in some form for quite some time.

Those stories don’t give up easily and so… I write them down and turn them into books.

Now it’s your turn. Why do you read angsty books?
