Everyone has that one trope that just juices them up and makes them happy. I thought I’d let you know what my top omegaverse tropes are today.

Trope 1: Rejected Mate

Oh, there’s NOTHING better than a good heartbreak in a book, for me.

Apparently, my readers like it too. The number one comment I get about Omega Lost is that it made them cry.

When it comes to rejected mates, there’s that extra bond to yank out and crush. In my books, while the bond fades over time, both sides can feel some of what the other is going through, which I feel makes it even worse for them! But it also gives that satisfaction that the alphas who rejected their mate get a little payback.

Trope 2: Grovel

Does grovel count as a trope? I think it does.

Most readers think there’s not enough grovel in books and they’re absolutely right. In fact, I took that to new heights in Omega Forsaken specifically because of those readers.

Once your omega’s heart is shattered, there should be no quick fix. Nope, she needs her alphas to build her back up and show her that the men she once loved are actually worthy of her. And a smart omega isn’t going to just hop back on that hot alpha dick without some serious kowtowing.

Trope 3: Inopportune Heats

Ah, where would we be without a good heat/rut from time to time? While I agree with one reviewer who said you can’t base an entire book around a heat cycle, it’s certainly a great way to throw two (or more) people together.

An omega can’t help when she goes into heat and in my books, we have the additional stressor of heatshock, when an omega goes too long without a knot and nearly dies. But, even without that extra factor, you have to admit that enemies-to-lovers would not be the same in an omegaverse book if she didn’t go into heat and force the issue.

Not the Only Tropes

Obviously, these aren’t all the tropes I love, but when it comes to omegaverse books, they are the top ones I look for. In fact, I will usually read a rejected mate book without even reading the blurb or knowing the author. Yeah, I’m that far gone. I crave that ache in the chest where you feel for the heroine and when I write it into my own books, I aim to make my reader feel that, too.

Your turn! What are your favorite omemgaverse tropes?
